READY, SET, PREPARE YOURSELF!

New York City’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and Department of Education joined together to bring emergency preparedness education to elementary school classrooms with a program called Ready Schools. What began with two fun-filled guides has grown to include interactive web games and a dynamic presentation. OEM contracted Small Factory to create cartoons based on the principles of Ready Schools to help teach children about preparing for emergencies. Small Factory Productions guided campers at a Police Athletic League summer program in the Rockaways as they drew original cartoon characters, created scripts, and recorded voice-overs and songs for two cartoons based on emergency preparedness.
